Our Goals

Simply put, myDailyPhoto is an online community where people can create and maintain a photo diary, of sorts. Our goal is to assist you by making things a bit easier (no programming required).

Each and every day, users will post a picture that sums up what they have done in the past twenty-four hours. Just ate calamari for the first time? Take a photo of a tentacle sticking out of your mouth. Took a trip to Boston? Post a picture of yourself at the top of the Prudential Building.

There are a limit-less number of reasons to register as a user, but we have a few personal favorites:

It will force you to become a better photographer, you'll have to keep your camera with you at all times (just in case Big Foot shows up), and because reflecting back on the past year is much easier when you can see memories with your eyes instead of just in your mind.

The Genesis Story

If you want to go back to the very origin of things, I guess you could start with a black and white photography course at a college in Florida nearly four years ago.

But no one wants to go back that far.

Basically, two people (Matthew and Lauren) felt that they weren't taking nearly as many photographs as they should be, and they definitely weren't going outside of their comfort zone (manual settings, oh no!). Two Clicks A Day was born, a daily photo blog that forced the both of them to lug around their cameras everywhere they went.

Numerous people became interested in the project and wanted to join, but "Two Clicks A Day" obviously wouldn't work for anything more than two people, and the site was in no-way set up as a community project.

It took a bit of convincing (and by convincing we mean blackmail) from long-time friend Carissa before Matthew finally gave in. After signing on programmer Sean to help, the project began to take shape. A little aesthetic design and hardcore programming was all it took, and the site kicked off on September 24th, 2007.

After just a bit more than a year myDailyPhoto underwent a major overhaul to upgrade not only the look and feel of the site, but also the available features and entire back-end code. A few new important staff members, namely community manager Erin and marketing genius Michael, joined the team, and with everyone's help version 2 of myDailyPhoto launched on June 30th, 2008.
