myDailyPhoto 3 Update
January 28th, 2010 7:02PM EST by matthew
Wondering how work on Version 3 of myDailyPhoto is going? Well, then I guess it's a good thing we've decided to write up this little blog entry. A lot has been accomplished and we're certainly focusing in on a release timeline, but there's still a lot of hard work to be done.
As of the time of this entry we are approximately 90% done with the new release, but honestly, that number was determined simply by gut feeling. New features are being added every day, so it's impossible to really figure out an exact completion percentage; not to mention the fact that we all have day jobs which can require unusual amounts of our time.
The last major hurdle on the coding side was completed on Wednesday when we wrapped up the upload pages. The only user-visible page left to be finished is the Photo Management page; we also have a lot of tie-ins to complete before we're ready to move on to the next phase of this update. We plan on having those completed by the middle of next week, and then it will be time to start re-configuring our servers (and buying new ones!).
From there we'll start a quick round of internal QA and acceptance testing; then we'll be opening the new site up to a select number of users in various parts of the world to make sure we didn't miss anything and to verify our timezone fixes actually work.
Finally, we'll wrap up production of some key new features that don't directly affect the website, such as the API, some new widgets, and of course the mobile applications.
Sound like a lot? It is, but we love you, so we're trying to get this wrapped up for you all to enjoy very soon!
If you've got any feature requests you better get them in right now by e-mailing the myDailyPhoto Support Team or leaving us a voice message at (949) 436-5637. And yes, we do have a new phone number for support requests. How cool is that?
