The amount of new users, comments, photo votes and everything else we've seen lately is absolutely astounding. myDailyPhoto is recording some record growth, and we like to think we'll be able to keep up this new trend. For just having started a year and a half ago we're very pleased that the community has already neared 150 members, and we're especially pleased to see that those members are actively participating in the community.
For starters, let's talk about our website analytics. Over the past month the average website visitor spends nearly 10 and a half minutes (10:22) on the website, and visits an average of about 15 pages. The "bounce rate", or number of new users who come to the site and immediately leave, is an amazing 21%. Most of our first-time visitors are coming from California, followed by Florida, Massachusetts, New York, and then England.
Another interesting tidbit is the activity we've experienced since appointing Ruth as our new Community Manager; we've had 17 new users sign up, 12 of which hail from the sunny land of Cali (Ruth's home state). The number of new visits is up 43%, the bounce rate is down 19%, the number of pages per visit is up 69%, and the average time on site is up 48%. Safe to say I think we made the right choice!
We've also been doing some internal analytics on the community, and have been charting out the activity. We've gone ahead and put markers on the dates when we released the myDailyPhoto 2 (July 1st 2008) and myDailyPhoto 2.5 (February 1st 2009) versions. Also, please note that photo voting wasn't incorporated until myDailyPhoto 2 was released. Here's a sneak peak at some of the core data:
