I'm glad you pitched some story ideas. It took me a little while to convince everyone there that interns are capable of doing more than shadowing (especially since some of my counterparts couldn't be counted on to show up on time, let alone assist reporters). When I was leaving they sounded like they were really receptive to interns who had the drive to do more, which is a really incredible thing.

Mike Deeson is great to talk to for old-school stories and for learning how to make nonvisual investigative stories work for TV.
